Our history

The Assumption Institute was born from the educational dream of St. Marie Eugenie de Jesus, foundress of the Religious of the Assumption, who in the 19th century responded to her time with a bold proposal: to transform society through the education of youth.

Inspired by their own vision, the nuns arrived in Mexico and founded an educational community committed to the integral formation of people, with a transforming spirit, in freedom, with faith and with a critical view of the world. In 1954, we opened our doors in Mexico City. Since then, generations of students, families and educators have given life to this work.

The identity of the Assumption Institute is marked by a spirituality that integrates faith spirituality that integrates faithculture and life. We are guided by a transforming pedagogy and a deep love for Jesus Christ and for humanity.

The cross expresses the profoundly Christocentric character of the educational mission, a reflection of the love of Jesus that inspired St. Marie Eugenie.

The boat, symbol of the Church, sails on a rough sea that represents the challenges of history and today's world, accompanied by a rudder that reminds us of the commitment to stay the course with firmness and hope.

A living community, committed to the growth of each person and to the transformation of the world.

In this ocean, the five continents evoke the missionary and global dimension of the Institute.

The graphic elements in the letters of the name Asunción express the value of the sense of community: the union between the "u" and the "n", and the protection that the "n" extends over the "c", reflect the spirit of care, accompaniment and belonging that defines our educational community.
